Answers about Witness coaching: how uploads work, privacy, pricing, coaches, and what to expect from human review.

## General

### What is Witness?

Witness is a coaching platform in an invite-only beta. Individuals and couples submit recordings of real-life conversations for professional coach or therapist review. Reviewers provide personalized guidance and practical next steps. We do not provide therapy, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency services.

### Is this therapy?

No. Witness is a coaching platform. We offer reflection, guidance, and support—not therapy, diagnosis, or clinical treatment. If you need licensed therapy, see Find licensed therapy in your state.

### Who are the coaches?

Many of our coaches are licensed therapists. Because they may not be licensed in your particular state, they offer their services as coaching instead—same training and expertise in relationship dynamics, delivered as coaching. We also have certified coaches with deep experience in communication and patterns. Everyone on the platform works with you in a coaching capacity: reflection, guidance, and support—no diagnosis or treatment.

## How It Works

### What kind of recordings should I submit?

You can submit recordings of real conversations, arguments, discussions, or any interaction you'd like feedback on. Common submissions include disagreements about finances, parenting, communication breakdowns, or recurring conflict patterns. The more authentic the recording, the more helpful the feedback will be.

### How long should my recording be?

Recordings can be anywhere from 5-30 minutes. We recommend capturing a complete interaction rather than just snippets. If your conversation is longer, you can submit multiple recordings or focus on the most significant moments.

### How quickly will I receive feedback?

Review timing varies during the invite-only beta. Approved participants receive timing expectations during onboarding. Timing is not a guaranteed platform SLA.

### Can I stay anonymous?

Yes! You can choose to submit recordings anonymously. Your coach will only have access to your recording and the context you provide—not your personal information.

### Are live video sessions available?

In-platform live video sessions are not part of the current beta. Providers may continue using their existing scheduling or session tools. Moment reviews can provide context between those sessions.

## Privacy & Security

### Are my recordings secure?

Recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is controlled so client content is not publicly visible. Only authorized reviewers for your care relationship can access your Moments under platform rules.

### Do I need consent from the other person in the recording?

Yes, you should obtain consent from anyone appearing in your recordings. When you submit, you confirm that you have the necessary permissions. We recommend having an open conversation with your partner about using Witness together.

### What is Witness’s relationship to HIPAA?

Witness is privacy-conscious and designed with sensitive information in mind, but we do not claim universal HIPAA compliance certification or covered-entity status for every customer. Regulated healthcare use requires an appropriate customer agreement and configuration. See our HIPAA Notice for details.

## Pricing & Billing

### How does billing work during beta?

Self-service subscriptions and review-pack checkout are paused during the invite-only beta. Approved participants receive manually granted access. Mobile carrier text alerts are unavailable. Notifications may be delivered by email where enabled.

### Can I get a refund?

Because the initial controlled beta uses manually granted access rather than public self-service purchase, refunds generally do not apply. Contact support if you have a billing question after public launch options return.

### Do you offer couples pricing?

During beta, eligibility and access are invite-based rather than public couple pricing packages. Contact us to request beta access for your household.
